I spent a relatively okay day at Cyprus High School today. The last thing a kid said to me as he was leaving last period was, "It must #*$ to be a substitute". I felt understood at least by one student.......pardon his language!
Then I went to the grocery store, came home, put food away and watched one of the SWEET American Girl Doll Movies from Sara. It was really, really good.
Dad fixed me a beautiful dinner which we ate by candlelight, and then Annie, Michael and Kiddo's came and brought us a date in a bag (popcorn, candy, movie and a book to read). EmmaRay said, "HappBirthday", and the boys were sweet and cute.
All my precious kiddo's called me at least once today.
Aren't I the luckiest woman on the planet? Now.......if I could just hold you in my arms for a minute.....
Some day soon!

Odds and Ends
It was scary at first to go down the 'dark' slide and then it was just 'so much fun'!!!
Brennan: "I just love it, love it!" In fact, the next morning he was up, dressed and his bed was made (he can't fold his blankets, so he makes them into snowballs!) and he was ready to go to the park at 6:30 am!
I am NOT a rocket scientist, but I am the MOTHER of a rocket scientist, and I find this toy to be utterly frustrating. The kiddos got the little hamster things for Christmas, along with this habitat. The hamsters are great. The habitat is NOT kid friendly (though they love playing with it when it is put together). I finally resorted to masking tape. It was more a job for duct tape, but I didn't have any. Why would any toy manufacturer think it was okay to have a toy that needs to be put together be soooooo hard that even an adult has difficulty?????
Miss Ray with her wooden pieces and some colored pencils. Very fun!
Lisa came on Friday night to watch the Olympics with me! Notice what she does as she is 'relaxing' watching the Olympics? Poor baby girl.............

Fun with the kiddo's
I added all of the pictures, and now it won't let me add words except for underneath them all. Like any good grandma, I had their coats on when we went to the grocery store--I mean it was only 37 degrees outside. What you don't see in the picture is that EmmaRay was barefoot!
We walked to the candy store (corner gas station). I hope you noticed the brown grass. All of Utah has brown grass, and brown everything right now. Not too pretty. Cade wrote down directions: First you go west, then north then turn east and you are there!
We spent lots of time at the libraray.
I considered it a major feat to get them in their car seats!
Here they are at preschool.
They are painting little ceramic shoes from Lisa.
Here we are on a tumbleweed hunt.
Dad found a great one.
I was reading to the kids while EmmaRay was coloring. She fell asleep.
A pile of beads took up about two days of fun playing.
We ended with dinner and "Piglets big Movie" Very cute show!

Preschool Fun.
Cade had such great fun with his first mask, he is working on his second.
He made an 8 legged cow and a donkey to add to the mask. (They got glued onto the sides of the skeleton looking mask that you can see in the picture above).
The kids having fun with the growing sponge surprise from mommy. Brennan got a tow truck.
Grandma and Grandpa Rigby came with new Bomber Jackets for Cade and Brennan!

I remember!
I just was fixing lunch, when I noticed my breakfast sitting on the cupboard. I hadn't had time to eat it!
Masks!
We made some fancy masks. These are replica's of Kahn masks. [Chinese] Cade wanted to know why Chinese was so scary. The book of masks, of course, had not scary masks, like giraffes. They didn't want to make those. It was successful in that it was a messy project, and EmmaRay only stuck 5 sequins up her nose! Last night Cade began SCREAMING (really like the house was on fire). I ran in. He was sitting on the side of the bed. I said, "Cade, what is the matter?" He said, "What is a biscuit?" I said, "A kind of bread." He said, "Oh, I was wondering and I didn't know." All that screaming because he didn't know what a biscuit was! A heart attack that was at least good for a laugh!
Query? What made him think of biscuits......we didn't read anything about biscuits, we didn't eat biscuits...??? What ever goes on in those dreams?...?.....? :)
I thought I would be 'smart' and take the boys potty just as I was heading for bed. I warned them when I put them to be that I would do that (so I didn't have to wake up in the night to do it). So, I got Brennan up first. Carried him in, told him to stand on his feet, got him ready, said, 'go' and 'go' he did. Carried him back to bed.......all was well. Then I carried Cade in. He would not stand up........so I was sort of holding him and pulling down his zipper (a bit awkward). I got him ready and said, "go'. He started screaming. (He screams loud). I was soothing......just 'go' and you can go back to bed. No go. By this time he was pretty hysterical. I managed to get him back into bed (screaming uncontrollably by now). I tried to calm him down and/or wake him up so he would quit. I couldn't, so I left him screaming in his bed. About 30 seconds later he was back asleep. I don't think I will try that again. Live and learn!

From my mommy.
My mom brought me two little birdies. Aren't they cute? [They are actually cuter 'in person' than they look in this picture for some reason.........]

This cracked me up!
This is more Lisa's story to tell, but it was so funny, I can't wait! I was substituting for a Special Needs class (this week) at Skyline. They didn't need me, so I went in to help grade papers for Lisa.
The kids are reading Huck Finn. Now, you have to remember that it is written in the dialect of the way they speak, which can be a little bit confusing to someone that has never read about Bra'r Bear and Bra'r Rabbit.
So, you have Huck trying to convince Jim about King Solomon's wisdom. Jim replies, "Does you know 'bout dat chile dat he uz gwyne to chop in two?"
Lisa gave the kids a test over their reading. One of the questions was "Why does Jim doubt the wisdom of King Solomon?"
One boy wrote, " Because he says that "cutting the pepper in half" doesn't really help anyone."
I handed the paper to Lisa and said, "Huh?"
She called the boy over and said, "What do you mean about cutting the pepper in half."
He said, "You know.......like Jim talked about cutting that pepper in half." Again confusion. Then the light dawned as he said, 'You know, the CHILE pepper.' Lisa and I burst out laughing. It wasn't a chile as in chile pepper, it was a chile as in Child!
