Even though I only fixed CANNED soup, little ham and turkey sandwiches and bean dip......so a simple dinner, I thought it looked nice......Elegant enough for a Sunday dinner. Wait! It is Sunday dinner!

Lisa's Birthday!!!
We took Lisa to Desert Star Theater for her Birthday. We saw twi-lite. It was VERY fun. We had a GREAT time!!!
On Sunday, we just had soup and bread, so not a very fancy birthday dinner, but I made her a Razzleberry Pie. Yum!!!
I didn't take any pictures........so you'll have to make do with the promo picture for the play!
I wish you the happiest year ever, Lisa.
Don't work too hard. Have fun instead.

Huh?
I was looking at our ward list, and there is a family that has two girls and two boys. The girls names start with K and the boys with D, which is okay.........but the girls names are Kayla and Kaila. The boys are Dallan and Dylan. How do you even pronounce them differently? It's hard enough to call your kids by their names when they are Lisa, James, Merilee, Sara, Angela and Kristen!!
There are lots of interesting names in our ward: Saylor Blue (first and middle names)
The family of Haley, Hunter, Haidyn, Hannah, Hadlee and Hudson.
Another family: Payton, Pyper, Kazden, Kyler and Quincey Taryn
Then there is a lady, Rose, whose middle name is Kau'pualokekawahineikahanuopanineke
Or this family: Austin, Athena, (well, at least those two sound familiar!), Arwen and Aiden
Or this: Kennedi Mae, Kyra Mae and Kimora Mae, or this family: Sadie, Seth, Siara and Seila
Who knew the ward directory could be so much fun to read?

It pays to be a funny guy!
There was a news bite about Tim Allen. He made 1.25 MILLION per EPISODE during the last season of his TV sitcom Home Improvement........He was still doing that when his movie Santa Clause was a block buster, top grossing movie for the month of November/December, and his book made #1 best seller on the New York Times best seller list. During that time he was also the voice for Buzz, in Toy Story. I guess he doesn't have to worry about his financial status! Amazing. I'm not funny. I can't even remember a joke more than a minute.
But, I can laugh!
But, I can laugh!

Interesting fact!
Last night (1/22/2010) was the lowest recorded barometric pressure EVER recoreded in SLC. It was down to 28.94. I thought that was interesting. I wonder what it means?????

Whose to say?
I was over at Annie and Michael's old house yesterday, packing the last things, and cleaning, when lo and behold, Annie and kids came. (And it was going to be a surprise). While there, Ray needed a 'change', and Annie said, "Well, I think we'll have to go home, because I don't think I have any diapers with me."
Earlier in the day, Cade had been telling me all about his magic finger. He put his finger inside his slinky toy, and it came out magic. Back to the original issue: Annie came back in from the car saying, "Well, Ray, you're in luck. I not only had a diaper, but wipes, too." She proceeded to head upstairs to change Ray, while Cade said to me, "See, I told you I had a magic finger. I 'magiced' the diaper and wipes from our new house to our old house, so we wouldn't have to go home." Whose to say..............! I believe!!
[ P.S. I added 3 posts this morning........so look at them all!]

I need a quicker camera.
When taking pictures of three children who are 'lively', I need a camera that doesn't wait 4 seconds before the picture takes, after pushing the button. Couldn't quite get the 'perfect shot', but they're mighty cute, anyway.
My two Christmas treasures
It won't let me print right under the pictures........but Lisa gave me the darling Snow baby who was busy knitting socks and a scarf for Rudolph. I love it. Mom gave me the cute Angel with "The Joy of Christmas Morning" painted and carved on her tummy. We did have lots of Joyful Christmas mornings, with many more to come!!

Sometimes....
Sometimes (yesterday and today), substituting in the Junior High makes me forget my faith in humanity and our future. Can they even be quiet for one second? NO! Are they mostly rude, hurtful, unkind, cheaters and LOUD. YES! Very sad.

Scary
Obama just legislated (executive order) that Interpol does not have to abide by any of the United States policing laws and can police in America......(search and seizure, etc.) This is REALLY SCARY stuff. Can we all March on Washington or do SOMETHING?
Here is a quote from the Washington Post:
"Obama has granted Interpol the ability to operate within the territorial limits of the United States without being subject to the same constitutional restraints that apply to all domestic law enforcement agencies such as the FBI. Second, Obama has exempted Interpol's domestic facilities -- including its office within the U.S. Department of Justice -- from search and seizure by U.S. authorities and from disclosure of archived documents in response to Freedom of Information Act requests filed by U.S. citizens. Think very carefully about what you just read: Obama has given an international law enforcement organization that is accountable to no other national authority the ability to operate as it pleases within our own borders, and he has freed it from the most basic measure of official transparency and accountability, the FOIA".

Aren't we lucky?
Today in the mail we got a package from Linda and Gene for Christmas: 4 steaks, 4 fillets, 4 chicken breasts, 4 hot dogs (funny, huh?), 4 twice baked potatoes, 4 caramel apple turnovers. Aren't we lucky???? I think meat is a funny thing to mail......but it mailed well! So, what are we having for dinner? Left over spaghetti!

Pretty smart for a just turned 5 year old.
Cade asked me to ask him a question. So, I said, "Cade, what is 4 + 5?" He immediately piped up "9", to which I replied, "Wow, that was fast." So he said, "Well, 5+5 is 10, and four is just one less than five, so it's 9." I thought that was incredible logic for a just turned 5 year old. He also cuts like a 3rd grader or better. He can actually cut things out as well as I can............including fingers, curls in hair, and the finest details. Amazing!!! Smart boy. Add that to all of the other incredibly smart grandchildren, and we are raising a mighty fine younger generation in our family.
